Romy Day Winkel (1994) werkt als schrijver, kunstenaar en PhD onderzoeker in Amsterdam.

Haar essays en korte verhalen verschenen in De Revisor, Metropolis M, De Internet Gids, Extra Extra, Mister Motley, Pas Uit, Deleuzine, en DAISYWORLD. Momenteel werkt ze aan haar debuutroman die zal worden uitgegeven door Koppernik. Ze publiceerde Blurry Angel (Outline, 2024) met Benedikt Kuhn, ITS (IM)POSSIBLE FORMATION: The Book (Onomatopee, 2024) met Natasha Rijkhoff, ¶#2: Bundle theory (Outline, 2021), en Romance Utopia (2021).

In september 2026 is ze begonnen als PhD onderzoeker aan Utrecht Universiteit, als onderdeel van het Just Art consortium. De komende jaren zal ze samenwerken met hedendaagse kunstenaars die zich bezighouden met het heractiveren van historische vlas/linnen, hennep en wol productieketens in Nederland, om te onderzoeken hoe die samenwerking klimaatrechtvaardige textielproductie kan informeren.

Ze behaalde een BSc culturele antropologie aan de Universiteit van Amsterdam (2016), een Research MSc sociale antropologie aan Stockholms Universitet (2019), en een MFA in Critical Studies aan het Sandberg Instituut (2021).

Romy Day Winkel (1994) is a writer, artist and PhD researcher based in Amsterdam.

Her essays and short stories have appeared in De Revisor, Metropolis M, De Internet Gids, Extra Extra, Mister Motley, Pas Uit, Deleuzine, and DAISYWORLD. She is currently working on her debut novel, which will be published by Koppernik. She published Blurry Angel (Outline, 2024) with Benedikt Kuhn, ITS (IM)POSSIBLE FORMATION: The Book (Onomatopee, 2024) with Natasha Rijkhoff, ¶#2: Bundle theory (Outline, 2021), and Romance Utopia (2021).

In September 2026 she started as a PhD Researcher at Utrecht University, as part of the Just Art consortium. Over the next few years she will be working alongside contemporary artists reactivating historical flax-to-linen, hemp, and wool practices in the Netherlands, and studying how that collaboration can inform climate-just textile futures.

She holds a BSc in Cultural Anthropology from the University of Amsterdam (2016), a Research MSc in Social Anthropology from Stockholm University (2019), and an MFA in Critical Studies from the Sandberg Institute (2021).
