Romy Day Winkel (1994) werkt als schrijver en kunstenaar in Amsterdam. In haar praktijk onderzoekt ze het lichaam en het kleden daarvan, en bestudeert ze kledingstukken en ornamenten als levende objecten. Recente werken zijn onder meer twee paddenstoelenkostuums gemaakt voor Anna Tsing en Feifei Zhou’s tentoonstelling in het Nieuwe Instituut, grote wandkledingstukken voor The long middle bij puntWG, en een textielinstallatie voor The Act of Dressing bij Brieke Drost.

Een van haar doorlopende projecten is Romance Utopia, een onderzoek naar mislukte of wankele romantische gebaren. Binnen dit project verzamelt, maakt en reageert ze op beelden, teksten en geluiden die een gevoel van romantische ontbinding oproepen. Romance Utopia kreeg recent vorm als radioshow tijdens haar residency bij Stranded.fm (Utrecht) en bestaat ook als doorlopend beeld- en tekstarchief: @romance_utopia

Ze publiceerde Blurry Angel (Outline, 2024), ITS (IM)POSSIBLE FORMATION: The Book (Onomatopee, 2024), ¶#2: Bundle theory (Outline, 2021), en Romance Utopia (2021). Haar essays en korte verhalen verschenen in De Revisor, Metropolis M, De Internet Gids, Extra Extra, Mister Motley, Pas Uit, Deleuzine, en DAISYWORLD.

Daarnaast maakte ze voor Stichting Perdu tussen 2019-2021 de literaire podcast De Verloren Tijd en haar Engelstalige zusje Time Lost. In 2025-26 zat ze in de directie van Perdu als artistiek coördinator. In 2024-25 maakte ze samen met Simone Atangana Bekono de literaire podcast Het zijspoor in opdracht van De Internet Gids.

Ze behaalde een BSc culturele antropologie aan de Universiteit van Amsterdam (2016), een Research MSc sociale antropologie aan Stockholms Universitet (2019), en een MFA in Critical Studies aan het Sandberg Instituut (2021).

One of her ongoing projects is Romance Utopia, a research into failed or faltering romantic gestures. Within this project she collects, creates, and responds to images, texts, and sounds that muster a sense of romantic decomposition. Romance Utopia recently took shape as a radio show during her residency at Stranded.fm (Utrecht) and also exists as an ongoing image-and-text archive: @romance_utopia
