Fifty silk bookmarks
Fifty silk bookmarks is a dispersed work made for Onomatopee’s archive exhibition that opened in 2023.
Each bookmark is a strip of silk sealed in glossy laminate; its fraying edges preserved rather than repaired. On their surfaces, I handwrote erasure poems lifted from pages of Onomatopee publications, letting new texts emerge through this extractive writing technique. Slipped into books, the bookmarks circulate between readers and volumes, hovering between tool and ornament while gently unsettling authorship. As they travel, they act like small, living objects that “read” the books back.
